HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!!!

MIGHTY MOUSE IS ON HIS WAY!

I usually draw Darkwing Duck when I am practicing and loosening up. But this time it's Mighty Mouse, because I have been watching a lot of the Bakshi, John K. Mighty Mouse cartoons on you-tube. I've also been watching the very old Mighty Mouse cartoons, they have much better stories and much better timing, and more well thought out and interesting ways for Mighty Mouse to save the day, but the drawings are very dated and not as fun to draw as the Bakshi, John K. Mighty Mouse cartoons.

DARKWING sketch dump

Here's some sketches that I did ages ago. I LOVE DARKWING DUCK! I used to tape it off the TV when it originally aired on Disney Saturday Morning in the early 90's. I used to do a fantastic drawing exercise; I would pause the VCR on a key pose and draw it. The VCR only paused for 5 minutes, so wherever I was in the sketch when the pause stopped was where I left the sketch. Here are a bunch of em. It wasn't until this year that Disney finally released DARKWING DUCK season 1 on DVD. My brother bought it for me. I want to do my sketch exercise again with Darkwing Duck, see if I have improved over the past decade, and to draw in a more classic animation style, with more volume and structure than alot of the stuff I have worked on over the past several years.

PENGUIN 2

Another scrap piece of paper, another Penguin sketch. Again, nothing digital, good ol' sharpie marker and white pastel.

PENGUIN

I found a scrap piece of paper. Normally I would throw it out. But I liked the texture of it, it's not just a white piece of paper. It has a grain to it and a beige color. So I sketched the Penguin. He's got a lot of black so I used a sharpie marker, and then a white stick of pastel, NO PHOTOSHOP in this. It feels good to get away from the digital stuff for a change.

CAPTAIN TOXOID

He's one of the main characters in another pitch of mine. He has a kitchen sink for a body, a tool belt full of plumbing equipment, a plunger, a squeegee, a rubber stopper, he has hot and cold water taps for ears, a faucet for a head, and his cape is a bath towel with the word HIS on it, from a HIS and HERS matching set.

I DUG UP AN OLDY

I can't believe I am actually posting this. I found this old drawing from way back in 1992! This was around the time Batman; The Animated Series first aired. I think I have grown considerably as an artist, I would hope so by the looks of this old Spider Man pic. It's kind of embarrassing to look at old drawings, but I actually do not entirely hate this one. Sure I can do something way better now, but I see what I was going for with this drawing, and I almost achieved it. I actually had a T shirt of this Spidey drawing made. It was laser printed on a white shirt. I wore that shirt everywhere. I wore it until it was so thin, it was translucent. I am only posting this because I don't have time to draw anything new for the next week or so. 1992?! Man, that seems soooooo far back now.

HELLBOY

The best HELLBOY drawing I ever saw was by Jeff Matsuda on his website. I was thinking of his HellBoy when I drew this at the studio today. His is better of course.
