For this fifth post of Jennifer Marlowe all I did was cut and paste the head from the post below into the body of another sketch.

I find that I was drawing her to small. It was not enabling me to be as loose with the sketch as I need to be. So I did a more loose caricature on a big sheet of paper which allowed me to draw with my whole arm not just my wrist. Her face here is getting closer to what I want.

saw this guy on the metro this morning

This guy had great features . I'll draw him again as a character design and really bring those features to the forefront.

It's not there yet, but I am getting closer to what I want.

This is my first crack at her. There isn't much character, attitude, and personality in this initial sketch. I'll practice her a bit, then make a drawing that isn't so static and boring. It's not easy trying to caricature her, and at the same time keep her as drop dead beautiful as she is. Just looking at this sketch now, I have an idea that might work, if I can pull it off....wait and see.

mythology bg

This is the bg I came up with for the stick puppets. It will change color from scene to scene, but other than the color, it will be a constant. Depending on what the scene is, different elements will appear; for example, for an ocean scene, this bg will be blue and I'll add a couple clouds and waves of water at the bottom. Or if it is a scene of Mount Olympus, other elements will appear, a column and a mountain.

guy on the metro

I did this sketch on the metro on the way home today. The subway is a great place to sketch interesting faces. It's not easy trying to draw on a crowded subway and be discrete about it.

Just a sketch of the mother of Hercules and his half brother Iphicles.

The colors, the white border, the drop shadow, all add to the stick puppet look. It looks like something from a kid's coloring book.
