Something they did a lot of in the old UPA cartoons was to leave the characters all white, or with only a couple of colors. It was a brilliant look that really made the character stand out from the background.
Actually, we have seen a ton of UPA inspired cartoons over the past 8 years or so. Everything on the Cartoon Network for the past decade has been called "MODERN UPA". Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Power Puff Girls, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, and whole bunch of others. I think we are on the tail end of it now, but it was the second "Golden Age" of animation thanks to the Modern UPA style of the cartoon network. Actually, Ren & Stimpy had there UPA spots years before Dexter's Lab ever came around. I could name dozens of other Modern UPA cartoons, My life As A Teenage Robot, The New erald McBoing Boing, the list goes on. I never understood why this town never caught on to the Modern UPA look. That is why everything out of Montreal looks so dated, like it was made in the early 90's or late 80's. They really are slow to keep up with the times here. Explains why all the french dudes here still have mullets.

groovy. I'm surprised we haven't seen more UPA inspired animation. It seems the perfect fit for Flash.
