SKETCHY WEIRDNESS

Just some sketches, Frankenstein, Nosferatu, and some random characters.

FAT GUY ON THE METRO

I saw this huge guy on the subway the other day. I drew him from memory first thing when I got into the studio half hour later.

FRESH FROM THE GARBAGE PILE

Even blob monsters are born kinda cute.

1 EYE or 2?

I would go with the one eye.

2 EYES or ONE?

Personally, I like him with one eye.

BLOB MONSTER BABY

They're all cute when they're small.

3 colored versions

I am not sure which color scheme I prefer.

HUNCHBACK

I doodled this guy at work. I recently picked up THE ART OF DISNEY'S HUNCHBACK, plus all the absolutely incredible art of JOHN NEVAREZ I have been looking at, inspired me to draw this hunchback.

first life drawing in over 3 years

I finally went life drawing, after a hiatus of more than 3 years. I was completely out of practice, and my drawings were not good. It'll take a couple of months of going life drawing at least once a week to get back into it. I thought it would be interesting to post some of the decent pieces, after each weekly session, and see if there is a noticeable improvement over the next few months.

SOLDIER SKETCH

Here's a couple of versions of a sketch. The first is the scan from my sketchbook, the second is with the flag added digitally. The spatter was done by hand, by tapping a brush with paint against a ruler. I had to do that part in my bathroom. I tried to be careful, but I still got red paint spatter all over my bathroom. It looked like a horror scene. But I cleaned it up before it dried, so my bathroom is nice and clean again.

HELLBOY

The best HELLBOY drawing I ever saw was by Jeff Matsuda on his website. I was thinking of his HellBoy when I drew this at the studio today. His is better of course.

Gorilla

This gorilla was sketched while I was warming up to do some drawing at the studio.

Cartoony Cat Sketches

This is the result of being bored at work. I was waiting for some character designs to be approved, so I sketched a few cats.

DIESEL

This is a sketch I did a couple of years ago of my cat, DIESEL. He was in a playful mood by my feet while I was drawing, rolling on his back. I managed to pull off a decent sketch, even though he didn't stay still for more than a few seconds.

Lizard BG

This is a BG I whipped up in flash for a bit of animation of a lizard jumping around. You can see the animtion at;

I also used the same lizard animtion in the header of my webite.
